To mark Singapore’s 50th anniversary, DutchCham’s launched its inaugural Winsemius Awards named after the Dutch economic advisor to Singapore, the late Dr. Albert Winsemius.
The strong business ties between The Netherlands and Singapore were marked at the Dutch Chamber of Commerce Business Awards Gala dinner last night held at the Grand Hyatt Hotel.
As a mark of respect to the passing of Mr. Lee Kuan Yew the event was postponed from 25 March to 31 March, 2015.
The event saw the attendance of over 180 guests including CEO’s, managing directors of major Dutch and Singaporean companies.
The honorable Dr. Vivian Balakrishnan, Minister for the Environment and Water resources and Professor Dr. Pieter Winsemius graced the occasion and unveiled the name of the DutchCham Business Awards ; Winsemius Awards.
Vice President of DutchCham, Mr Ynse de Boer explained that the Winsemius Awards name was chosen in honour of the late Dr. Albert Winsemius who was Chief Economic Advisor to Singapore from 1961 to 1984 and who played a major role in the economic development of Singapore.
The 21 shortlisted companies selected from over 40 entries stood out among companies for their exceptional business practices and achievements in areas associated with Dutch business culture and Dutch Sector excellence.
