Top corporates go black on social media to mourn late Lee Kuan Yew

Some of the country’s biggest listed firms have changed the colour of their social media pages to black and grey to mark the passing of Singapore's founding father Lee Kuan Yew.

The companies have also expressed their condolences and thanks to honor his passing.

Among the firms that have changed their online colours are Singtel, SingPost, Singapore Airlines, Singapore Press Holdings, Great Eastern, DBS Bank and Singapore Exchange.

Others such as SMRT and CapitaLand retained their online colours but posted messages on their pages and websites.

Singtel

The Board, Management and Staff of Singtel are deeply saddened to learn of the passing of our first Prime Minister and founding father of modern Singapore, Mr Lee Kuan Yew. We share the loss and grief of his family. We are grateful for his leadership in transforming Singapore, which has allowed us to enjoy and build on its many successes and strengths. Our thoughts and prayers are with the family.

All of us at SingPost deeply mourn the loss of Singapore’s founding father Mr Lee Kuan Yew. Like all of Singapore, we have our own special memories of Mr Lee. After he graduated from the University of Cambridge he was admitted to the English Bar in 1950. However, instead of practising as a barrister, Mr Lee returned home and became Legal Advisor to the Postal Union. Mr Lee succeeded in obtaining better pay and conditions for the postal workers. SingPost owes a special debt to Mr Lee in forging a strong labour relationship since then.

Mr Lee will go down in history as a giant in Asia, and probably the world. We at SingPost honour the memory of Mr Lee Kuan Yew.

We are deeply saddened by the passing of Singapore’s founding Prime Minister, Mr Lee Kuan Yew. A visionary leader, Mr Lee led Singapore's transformation into a global city and played a pivotal role in developing Singapore into an international aviation hub. We are deeply appreciative of his contributions to the nation and the aviation industry.
