What would CWT's financial services arm get with full license grant?

It will now be able to offer complete suite of financial services.

After only having a partial license to trade in commodity derivatives for two years, CWT Ltd's subsidiary Straits Financial Services Pte Ltd (SFSPL) was finally bestowed with full Capital Markets Services (CMS) License by the Monetary Authority of Singapore.

The full license will enable SFSPL to offer a full and complete suite of financial and commodity derivatives, including centrally-cleared over-the-counter contracts and contracts for differences.

The CMS will also equip SFSPL with the right tools to expand its customer base beyond accredited investors and corporate expert investors category.

For CWT CEO Loi Pok Yen, this would be a milestone for the group, saying it is a testament of the group's good regulatory standing, competency and strive in providing seamless service.

"With fully-licensed entities in the USA and in Singapore, Straits Financial is well poised to serve its clients in both the western and eastern hemisphere,” Loi said in a statement.
