SGX trading value plunges 21% to $17b in December

Securities daily average value fell to $774m.

The Singapore Exchange reported a sharp drop in total securities market turnover value in December. Market turnover dropped 21% year-on-year to $17 billion, while securities daily average value fell 20% month on month and fell 21% year on year to S$774 million.

Meanwhile, total derivatives volume was 14.4 million, up 6% month on month and down 17% year on year.

FTSE China A50 Index Futures remained the most active contract with volume of 6.4 million, down 2% month on month and down 33% year on year.
Over in the commodities space, commodities derivatives volume surged 163% year-on-year to 1.1 million.
