DHL Express buys new planes

The first deliveries are scheduled for 2022.

DHL Express and Boeing have announced the purchase of eight additional new Boeing 777 freighters, with first deliveries scheduled for 2022, to meet customer demand in fast-growing international express shipping markets.

"Fueled by globalization, digitalization and the unprecedented demand of our customers during the recent peak season, our global e-commerce volume grew by more than 40 percent in Q4,” DHL Express CEO John Pearson said.

The 777 Freighter has a range of 9,200 km and can carry a maximum payload of over 102,000 kg. It allows for fewer stops and reduces associated landing fees on long-haul routes, resulting in the lowest trip cost of any large freighter.
