SIA Engineering net profit dips to $12.8m in Q3FY2223

The figure is $20.4m lower year-on-year.

Despite improvement in flight activities, SIA Engineering’s net profit still dipped in the third quarter of FY2022-23.

In a bourse filing, SIA Engineering declared a net profit of $12.8m for the quarter which is $20.4m lower year-on-year (YoY)

Excluding last year’s wage support and one-time tax write-back, the company’s net profit would have improved by $19.8m YoY.

In the same quarter, SIA Engineering recorded a higher operating loss of $12.5m due to the rise in expenditure.

The company’s expenditure in Q3FY2223 rose 35.5% due to an increase in manpower costs.

“Manpower costs increased largely due to increase in headcount, cessation of manpower cost mitigation measures and increments,” the company stated.

A NOTE FROM SINGAPORE BUSINESS REVIEW

If you've been wondering whether SBR could work for your company — yes, probably.

A lot of the companies we partner with started as readers. They'd been following our coverage for a while, saw their own customers and competitors in it, and eventually asked the obvious question: could we do something with you? The answer is usually yes. The shape of it depends on what you're trying to do.

The options are broader than most people assume — thought leadership articles, sponsored content, industry summits across Southeast Asia, regional awards programmes, podcasts, and media placements in print and digital. Some partners use one channel; most use a mix. We figure out the right combination by starting with your brief, not with our rate card.

So if the question has been on your mind, here's the easy way to ask it.

We'll tell you honestly whether we can help, and how. It's a better use of everyone's time.
