Canapii clinches Software - Start-up trophy at SBR Technology Excellence Awards

Even during the pandemic, the platform brought together more than 2,000 delegates representing the most important channel partners and vendors in the EMEA region

Using more than a decade of world-leading in-house digital and events expertise, Canalys used their event management platform Canapii to create an event that united and brought together the IT channel after a tough pandemic year. With prominent CEOs from Hewlett Packard Enterprise, Lenovo, Trend Micro, and VMware among the guests and over 80 speakers covering 80 sessions that included analyst updates, partner CEO interviews, topic-based digital huddles with vendors, and interviews with global channel leaders and regional chiefs from sponsors, this first virtual event was seen as a great success.

It is for this reason why Singapore Business Review has awarded the platform Canapii the Technology Excellence in Software Award in the Start-up category.

Designed for exceptional in-person, hybrid and virtual events. Canapii's global team of event professionals serves business-to-business events with bespoke, customisable solutions, creating an incredible user experience and simplifying the event organiser' role. As an "all in one" solution, Canapii offers live streaming, real-time analytics, registration, inbuilt live translation, networking, audience engagement, and much more.

Historically, Canalys' events bring together the top regional executives in the industry to network and connect. Knowing how important it was for the industry to reconnect and have the chance to rebound into 2021, they wanted to exceed their in-person attendance of 850 pax and found ways to attract new members of the industry from across the region.

The company had the highest number of CEO-level speakers at this event, with keynote speakers that included the CEO of Lenovo, Yang Yuaqing, the CEO of Hewlett Packard Enterprise, Antonio Neri and the then CEO of VMware, Patrick Gelsinger. The Canapii event management platform ensured that they delivered valuable content to their attendees, maintained a strong level of engagement, and increased their overall reach across the region.

The success of their events has always been measured by the feedback and ratings given by their attendees including ROI and feedback from their top sponsors. They always did a post-event feedback survey and asked attendees to rate the overall event.

For 2020, this was all done using their innovative event platform Canapii, through polls and surveys and tracking of attendee data. By using Canapii, they had a lot more feedback and data to rate the event and track the attendee's journey. Overall, the event was rated 4/5 by attendees.

As with all events, there were always improvements to be made, but for Canalys' first virtual event this was seen as a great success.

Despite the difficulties of 2020, hosting their virtual event on Canapii allowed Canalys to bring their insight and analysis to the industry (which is always highly sought after). They were quoted in industry news and their analysis was shared worldwide. Moreover, the event also brought new content and ideas to the attendees, and had more opportunities to network and listen to CEO interviews of top companies.

The Technology Excellence Awards, presented by Singapore Business Review, was held via studio award presentations and video conferencing sessions throughout the second and third week of April.

This year’s nominations were judged by a panel consisting of Daryl Pereira, Head of Cyber at KPMG; Cheang Wai Keat, Partner, Consulting at Ernst & Young Advisory Pte. A NOTE FROM SINGAPORE BUSINESS REVIEW

The people you want to reach are already in this room.

Every quarter, SBR lands on the desks of the founders, CFOs, and directors running Asia's most consequential companies. Every day, they open our newsletter and read our website. It's a room that took twenty years to build — and it's the one most of our partners are trying to get into.

The good news is that the door is open. We work with companies on thought leadership articles, sponsored content, industry summits across Southeast Asia, regional awards programmes, podcasts, and media placements in print and digital. The shape of the right partnership depends on what you're trying to do, which is why we'd rather start with a conversation than send a rate card.

If you have something this room should know about, tell us. We'll tell you honestly whether we can help, and how.

No rate cards until we understand the brief. It's a better use of everyone's time.
