One Raffles Place Tower Two makes public debut

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Finance, Mr Tharman Shanmugaratnam, graced the opening.

In a release, more than one hundred and fifty prominent guests from leading business and financial institutions as well as key government agencies also attended the ceremony.

At the ceremony, Mr Tharman said that the opening of the new tower marked another stage in the transformation of Singapore’s central business district.

“Since its opening more than two decades ago by Mr Lee Kuan Yew, One Raffles Place has been home to many leading companies from home and abroad.

“The opening of Tower Two reflects the confidence property developers see in Singapore’s economy and the important role Raffles Place plays in our commercial centre,” said Mr Tharman.

The 38-storey commercial tower, comprising 360,000 square feet of prime Grade A office space, brings the total office, retail and entertainment space offered by One Raffles Place to 860,000 square feet.

Together, these two towers and the retail podium will be known as One Raffles Place – the premier business address in Singapore.

The Chairman of OUB Centre Limited, Mr Wee Ee Cheong, said, “The opening of One Raffles Place Tower Two meets the growing demand for quality office space in Singapore’s most established business district.

“Building on the legacy of Tower One, this new tower adds to Singapore’s changing skyline and commercial prosperity.”

Tower Two is designed by internationally renowned Japanese architect, Paul Noritaka Tange, son of Professor Kenzo Tange, who designed the first tower and UOB Plaza – two of the tallest buildings in Singapore.

A certified BCA Green Mark Platinum Development, Tower Two encompasses environmentally friendly features such as photovoltaic cells and rainwater harvesting, which will reduce impact on the environment, as well as enhanced security measures including 24-hour CCTV monitoring at all main entrances and exits, controlled by access cards. The development also features art pieces from world renowned artists in United Kingdom, Singapore, Japan and Italy.

Tower Two tenants range from professional services industries such as recruitment leader Michael Page International, to those in the media and finance industries.
