Guess which country Singapore tourists love to flock into

They stay 8 days on average during holidays.

According to Skyscanner's annual travel trends report, Thailand is revealed as the top favourite of 20 destinations for the outbound Singapore market.

Thailand’s incredible variety of prime travel spots coupled with a broad number of flight options appeared to have paid off in Singapore.

In terms of overall popularity searches, Thailand dominates the list for all groups, including couples and families from Singapore.

Couples from Singapore chose a Thai holiday over Indonesia and Malaysia which ranked respectively for the number 2 and 3 spots.

Thailand was also hotly favoured by families from Singapore with Malaysia beating Indonesia for the second spot.

A rising star on many a travel wish list, Myanmar’s growing international profile has propelled it to the number one spot -‐ a trend that is likely to hold for 2013 -‐ as the fastest growing destination for the Singapore market recording over 280% increase in searches in 2012 over 2011.

Qatar follows in second place recording 216% while Taiwan registers 192% growth in visitors from Singapore.

Conversely, the largest number of searches for Singapore is generated from the United Kingdom followed by Indonesia and Australia.

Other Skyscanner findings also revealed that Singaporeans stay an average of 7.6 days on holiday and they tend to book their travel on average 51 days before departure, compared with Australians who book 72 days in advance.

Skyscanner’s Ewan Gray, Regional Director – Asia Pacific, comments “Given the exciting array of experiences in Thailand and wide range of airlines servicing this popular
country, it is perhaps not surprising that Thailand tops the list of travel destination searches from Singapore.

Myanmar’s new found appeal will continue to attract interest from the savvy, well-‐travelled Singapore market.

It’s also interesting to note that the economic gloom in Europe has not deterred interest from the United Kingdom, one of three non-‐Asian countries to make it into the list of
the Top 10 into Singapore.”
