SG falls to 22nd place in list of places with the highest ex-pat packages

This despite salary and benefits packages increasing by 4% in local currency terms.

Singapore fell five places to 22nd rank in ECA International’s annual list of locations with the highest expatriate packages worldwide.

The city-state dropped in the ranking despite its salary and benefits packages increasing by 4% in local currency terms and about 9.5% in USD terms in 2021.

As of 2021, the cost of employing an expatriate in Singapore is just under USD 250,000 per annum.

Singapore was not the only location in Asia which saw a drop in the rankings. Hong Kong also fell to the eighth rank, whilst Japan, which used to have the salary and benefits package, has been overtaken by the United Kingdom.

Japan had the highest expatriate packages, and Malaysia had the lowest.

United Kingdom's expatriate packages rose by over 9% in USD terms.
