Hitachi's new Singapore subsidiary to lead regional operations
It will lead other Southeast Asian subsidiaries in an overhauled management structure.
The organizational shake-up is designed to make it nimbler in decision making and customer servicing, Hitachi said in a release.
To be named Hitachi Plant Technologies (Asia) Pte. Ltd. and established this December 2011, the Singapore subsidiary will oversee operations of six local subsidiaries in Singapore, Philippines, Malaysia, Thailand, Indonesia and Vietnam.
The latter three subsidiaries will still be established in February 2012.
"These local subsidiaries are being launched to speed up decision-making and create a system to clarify responsibilities. The aim is also to develop business activity firmly rooted in the region. Supervisory control of region-wide operations will be assigned to Hitachi Plant Technologies (Asia) Pte. Ltd. to provide management support in areas such as marketing, sales, technology, and procurement. This arrangement is also expected to enable efficient allocation and utilization of management resources and to strengthen global recruitment of human resources, training and corporate governance,"
A new India subsidiary was also created, independent of the Singapore subsidiary-led cluster.
"Hitachi Plant Technologies made the decision to establish the subsidiaries in Southeast Asia and India in order to respond to regional market trends and meet the needs of customers in the region. Hitachi Plant Technologies expects these autonomous diversified operations with close ties in their localities will accelerate the strategic growth for forming group companies to generate stable high profits," the company added.
