Maven Lab to help develop mobile websites for businesses

Moobify offers quick and simple tools for businesses, particularly those in the retail, and food and beverage sector.

The mobile opportunity is huge. In Singapore, eight out of 10 mobile phone users have smartphones. This means they will be able to browse through mobile websites for product catalogues and promotions, purchase goods and services while on the move, make reservations at a restaurant and navigate their way there – all from their mobile device.

The good news for businesses is that it is now a cinch to set up a mobile website to tap on this opportunity, thanks to Moobify by Maven Lab.

Developed under the Infocomm Development Authority of Singapore’s Digital Concierge Call-for-Collaboration, Moobify is a mobile content platform that offers quick and simple tools for businesses, particularly those in the retail, and food and beverage sectors, to create their own mobile websites without the need for technical or design knowledge, nor infrastructure to support the websites.

The service includes many useful and interactive features for businesses to reach out to their customers, for example, marketing tools to connect to users of social media sites such as Facebook and Twitter; mobile commerce and shopping carts; mobile booking and reservations; mobile event calendaring; and seamless integration with traditional mobile capabilities such as Short Message Service and Multimedia Messaging Service.

Businesses will be able to easily create and update content through the service’s WYSIWYG-enabled (What-You-See-Is-What-You-Get) online portal. To ease content creation, ready-templates are available for different types of businesses in the retail and food and beverage sectors. The service will also optimise content delivery to more than 5,000 models of mobile devices of different form factors and operating systems.

This means for just S$99 a month, businesses can use templates to set up a brand new mobile website that works on major mobile devices, and they can do this in a matter of days. Bundled with this is 1,000 SMSes for immediate link-thru-to mobile websites to generate awareness and traffic to the mobile website.

The service enables anyone with minimal website development knowledge to launch a mobile website without investing on hosting infrastructure.

To reach out to small and medium enterprises, Maven Lab is partnering solution providers such as Creative eWorld, which manages and hosts over 2,000 websites for SMEs. The partnership allows a mobile counterpart to be created for these websites, delivering the company’s information and services to customers’ mobile phones.

Maven Lab is also partnering Places.sg, a shared business directory service which is owned by GTW Holdings - the people behind HungryGoWhere. Places.sg is a shared business directory service with more than 20,000 establishments on board. The partnership will enable these businesses to quickly create mobile websites which will allow them to do mobile marketing and offer location-based and e-commerce services to their customers.

An early adopter of Maven Lab’s mobile content platform is Wing Tai Clothing, which has been using it to enhance the mobile presence of brands such as G2000, Fox Fashion and COVA Pasticceria. These brands have been receiving more than 10,000 visits to their mobile websites every month.

Ms Looi Ping, G2000’s Marketing Communications Manager said, “A mobile website enables G2000 to keep in tune and engage with today’s mobile urban executive. It’s a new channel through which we can market the brand, and it allows us to cater to the younger tech-savvy customers with targeted promotions.”
