Manufacturing output up 5.3% in November

The electronics segment posted the largest growth at 27.6%.

Manufacturing output rose 5.3% YoY in November thanks to a strong performance from most segments, according to a media release from the Economic Development Board. 

Almost all clusters posted strong performances in November led by the electronics cluster which expanded 27.6% thanks to strong demand for semiconductors, computer peripherals and infocomms & consumer electronics. 

Output of the precision engineering cluster grew 19.9% YoY as the precision modules & components segment posted robust growth of 44.6%, on account of higher production in dies, moulds, tools, jigs & fixture, optical instruments and metal precision components. 

The chemicals cluster’s output increased 7.5% YoY with the petroleum and petrochemicals segments growing 16.9% and 16.8% respectively.

Output of the general manufacturing industries cluster increased 1.7% YoY. The food, beverages & tobacco segment grew 6.6% with higher production of beverages products. 

However, output from the transport engineering and biomedical manufacturing clusters declined in November after posting an 8.3% and 23.3% decline respectively.
