Hilton will be opening its largest hotel in the Asia Pacific region in Singapore next year.

The Hilton Singapore Orchard, which will be a conversion from Mandarin Orchard Singapore, will have 1,080 rooms. It will debut in January 2022.

The Hilton Singapore Orchard will comprise two towers and rooms with a botanical theme.

Workers from India will be allowed to enter Singapore in a “calibrated manner,” starting July.

This is under a pilot programme, led by companies in the construction, marine, and process sectors. This includes the Singapore Contractors Association Ltd., Association of Singapore Marine Industries, and Association of Process Industry.

Under the new process, employers will have to pay out $2,000-3,000 more per worker. This is on top of the quarantine costs in Singapore.

The housing landscape in Singapore may be dominated by smaller flats with shorter leases, experts said.

Data from the population census found the number of households increased from the past decade, but there are fewer people in households on average.

A senior research fellow at the Institute of Policy Studies, Woo Jun Jie, said in light of this, there may be a need for smaller homes in both the public and private market.
