FairPrice Group approved to operate AVs on public roads for supply chain operations
About 30 autonomous vehicles will be added to FPG’s fleet.
FairPrice Group (FPG) is the first organisation in Singapore to receive approval from the Land Transport Authority (LTA) to operate autonomous vehicles (AVs) on public roads for supply chain operations.
The approval follows successful AV cargo transportation trials conducted in October 2024 with autonomous driving technology company Zelos Technology (Zelos).
Facilitated by Enterprise Singapore (EnterpriseSG), the partnership aims to improve logistics efficiency through automation.
FPG and Zelos has signed a collaboration agreement to add about 30 autonomous vehicles to FPG’s fleet.
The Zelos Z10 AVs, powered by electric batteries, will be used mainly for cargo transport between FPG’s distribution centres.
Each vehicle has a load capacity of up to 1.5 tonnes, a range of 210km, and 10m³ of cargo space.
According to FPG, the deployment of AVs will help automate routine logistics tasks, enhance efficiency, and strengthen supply resilience.
Each AV is expected to cut 27 tonnes of CO₂ emissions per year whilst reducing manpower requirements.
The initiative builds on FPG’s wider efforts to digitalise and decarbonise its supply chain. The company has integrated AI into its Supply Chain Operations Centre (SCope) and is expanding its electric vehicle fleet to more than 160 EVs by 2030.
