SingHealth expands digital twin tech for better patient care

The new system was built on the achievements of the 3D-DOSS project. 

SingHealth is increasing the adoption of digital twin technology to enhance patient care by improving disease outbreak surveillance, optimising healthcare facility workflows, and refining healthcare facility planning. 

The "4 Dimensional Disease Outbreak Surveillance System" (4D-DOSS) is being implemented to enable various applications in healthcare settings, such as near real-time monitoring, analysis, prediction, and simulation of disease outbreaks and more. 

This initiative builds upon the achievements of previous 3D-DOSS test projects, which have been in progress since 2020.

Its test results for the 3D-DOSS showed promising results where various data can be processed (patient symptoms, movement, and locations) and view results of laboratory and radiological tests.

SingHealth is currently expanding the application of digital twin technology with the introduction of 4D-DOSS, building upon the achievements of the 3D-DOSS project. 

The new system will be integrated with data source systems, including clinical data and the bed management system (BMS), and is scheduled to be operational by July 2024. 

The primary goal of 4D-DOSS is to enable various valuable applications in healthcare settings, such as real-time monitoring, analysis, and simulation of disease outbreaks. 

This project is funded and supported by the Singapore General Hospital, the Ministry of Health, and SingHealth.
