Four new hires were made across the board in the fixed income, equity, sales and compliance teams.

Manulife Asset Management makes four strategic hires in Singapore to boost its growth plan

Manulife Asset Management Pte. Ltd. has announced that it has made four new hires to the team within the past two months, continuing efforts to drive forward its growth strategy for the local office. Hires were made across the board in the fixed income, equity, sales and compliance teams.

Khim Hau Ng, Senior Director, Fixed Income

Khim Hau Ng was appointed Senior Director, fixed income in early July, working alongside and reporting locally to Cheng Duan Pang, Head of Fixed Income, Singapore and regionally to Yu-Ming Wang, Head of Fixed Income, Asia.

Khim Hau will work closely with Cheng Duan primarily on the fixed income general account portfolios and third party funds. He will also provide support in the development of new products and investment linked products and securing institutional mandates. He will further liaise with the over 35 fixed income investment professionals across 10 territories throughout Asia gaining local perspectives and sharing ideas.

Khim Hau is an experienced portfolio manager with close to 10 years in the investment industry. He joins Manulife Asset Management from AXA Investment Management Asia Pacific Ltd. where he worked for over six years most recently managing institutional and retail funds that primarily invest into the Hong Kong domestic bond market. He was also responsible for investing into local currency fixed income for Malaysia, South Korea and Indonesia. Prior to that, he worked with ABN AMRO Asset Management Ltd. as a portfolio manager for fixed income managing institutional funds that invest into Asian fixed income.

Lisa Yong, Senior Director, Equities

Lisa Yong was appointed Senior Director, equities in July, reporting locally to Amy Low, Head of Equities, Singapore and regionally to Ronald Chan, Head of Equities, Asia.

Lisa’s role will mainly consist of managing Singapore’s equity general account portfolios and third party funds.

Lisa brings over 15 years portfolio management experience having worked at companies such as Lion Global Investors, Allianz Global Investors and Deutsche Asset Management, managing a range of strategies from balanced mandates to South East Asian equities. In particular, she has extensive experience and a distinguished track record in managing dedicated Singapore strategies, winning a number of investment awards by Lipper.

Vincent Teo, Head of Wholesale Sales

Also in July Vincent Teo was hired in the newly created role of Head of Wholesale Sales and will report directly to Jill Smith. In this role he will be responsible for the company’s product business development and sales related matters, being a key driver in local product launches, building brand awareness through active engagement with clients and strengthening relationships with a range of different distribution channels. Vincent will work particularly closely with Manulife Singapore, supporting their Head of Wealth Management and his team plus their local agency force and external parties such as banks and Independent Financial Advisors through platforms like Navigator and iFast.

Vincent has over 13 years experience in financial services and joins most recently from AIA where he was a
Senior Business Development Director. Prior to that he worked at FIL Investment Management where, as Senior Sales Manager, his main focus was to strengthen existing and establish new relationships with distributors in Singapore.

Keith Cheang, Head of Compliance

Keith Cheang is the most recent hire, starting in August as Manulife Asset Management Singapore’s new Head of Compliance. Keith will report locally to Jill Smith and regionally to Daniel Lam, Chief Compliance Officer, Asia.

Keith will be responsible for overseeing various compliance related activities and projects in Singapore, including the front and back office processes, investment parameters and policies and marketing material reviews. Keith will also provide support to Daniel Lam in the overall supervision of the control environment in Manulife Asset Management, Singapore to ensure compliance policies and procedures are adhered to.

Keith is an experienced compliance office having spent more than 15 years in the investmet industry predominately in the legal and compliance function for Asia markets. He joins most recently from Wellington International Management Company Pte. Ltd., where he was an Associate Director for their Legal and Compliance team and has previously worked in similar roles in Western Asset Management Company Pte. Ltd. and AIG International Funds Singapore.
