Manulife Singapore appoints Naveed Irshad as President and CEO
He will overlook 3 key business segments.
According to a release, Manulife Singapore has appointed Naveed Irshad as its President and Chief Executive Officer, effective 26 May 2014.
Mr Irshad is responsible for the overall development of Manulife's business operations in Singapore. This includes three key business segments - life insurance, wealth management and retirement solutions.
Mr Irshad, a Canadian, has over 20 years of industry experience and has a deep understanding of the global life insurance industry.
His most recent position was part of a global accounts team of an American reinsurer based in Toronto, Canada. His mandate included leveraging global and local expertise, tools and resources to partner with multinational life insurance companies to grow their overall protection-oriented new business. His expertise included global product development, risk management and pricing.
Prior to this, he worked at Manulife for 16 years in a variety of business roles in Toronto and Boston. Just prior to leaving Manulife in 2011, he held a corporate position as Senior Vice President, Product and Insurance Risk Management, responsible for new product and insurance risk, globally. He was responsible for reviewing and approving all material for new product and underwriting initiatives across all product lines at Manulife.

Mr Irshad is a Fellow of the Society of Actuaries (FSA) and of the Canadian Institute of Actuaries (FCIA), and is a Member of the American Academy of Actuaries (MAAA). He is married with two sons.
