SG-MY land checkpoints record over 2.33 million crossing during CNY weekend

During the holidays, land checkpoints saw an average of 390,000 daily travellers.

The Immigration & Checkpoints Authority (ICA) recorded more than 2.33m crossings at the Woodlands and Tuas checkpoints during the Lunar New Year weekend, from 8 February to 13 February.

The land checkpoints catered to an average of 390,000 travellers daily, up by 35% from 2023’s record of 289,000.

As Singapore will have an upcoming March school holiday, ICA warned of “very heavy traffic” at Woodlands and Tuas checkpoints.

The ICA advised travellers to consider additional waiting time during this period and encouraged motorists to check the traffic situation before their journey and to avoid queue cutting.

The agency also advised drivers of foreign vehicles to ensure the validity of their Vehicle Entry Permit (VEP) since applications at checkpoints are not allowed.
