Unilever returns to Golden Agri-Resources subsidiary

PT SMART Tbk said Unilever has resumed palm oil purchases with them.

SMART has received a purchase order from Unilever on 17 October 2011, a decision which the company said it “views as an acknowledgement of its sustainability commitments including Roundtable on Sustainable Palm Oil (RSPO) certification.”

The Golden Agri-Resources subsidiary also recently announced that it has received its first RSPO certification for some of its operations in North Sumatra. According to SMART, this is part of the plans by its parent company to certify palm oil operations as at 30 June 2010 by end 2015.
