New Boeing 737 MAX 8 to take flight under SilkAir

Its first flight will go to Hiroshima, Japan.

Singapore Airline's regional arm SilkAir welcomed the first of its Boeing 737 MAX 8 (MAX 8).

According to a press release, the aircraft is the first arrival of 37 MAX 8s that SilkAir has ordered.

Two more MAX 8s are expected to be delivered by the end of the year, with another 34 on order.

The MAX 8 will hold 156 seats, 12 for business class and 144 for economy class.

The first inaugural MAX 8 flight will go to Hiroshima, Japan on 30 October 2017.

A return flight service will run thrice a week between Hiroshima and Singapore.

All MAX 8 aircraft will also be deployed to other long-haul destinations in the network including Cairns, Darwin, Kathmandu, Hyderabad and Bangalore.
