SilkAir takes over Scoot's Myanmar flights

Parent company SIA is consolidating its businesses.

SilkAir will be taking the wheel of Scoot's five-times-weekly services to Yangon, Myanmar, starting 29 October 2017.

According to a press release, the new services will add to SilkAir's 10 non-stop flights a week to Yangon and three services a week via Mandalay.

Scoot chief executive officer Lee Lik Hsin said, "The transfer of Scoot’s Yangon services to SilkAir will optimise aircraft utilisation within the Singapore Airlines Group and free up Scoot’s resources for other network development plans."

Guests with existing bookings on Scoot's Yangon services will be transferred to SilkAir's.

Scoot will halt operations in Myanmar, bringing its network to 60 destinations in 16 countries.

It previously announced that it will begin scheduled services to Kuching on 29 October 2017, Honolulu on 19 December 2017 and Kuantan on 2 February 2018.

Scoot will also mount seasonal flights to Harbin starting from 1 December 2017, and add seasonal non-stop Singapore-Sapporo flights starting from 3 November 2017.
