BreadTalk apologises over soymilk debacle, gives away 50,000 free Floss buns

It will also donate $50,000 to Community Chest.

An innocuous pack of Yeo's soya bean milk has dragged homegrown bakery chain BreadTalk Group into a vortex of unwanted publicity.

BreadTalk came under fire earlier this month after one of its staff was caught transferring pre-packaged soymilk into bottles that were marketed and labelled as “freshly prepared”.

In an attempt to salvage its reputation, BreadTalk has sworn to stop selling soya bean milk in mis-labelled bottles.

The group has signed a Voluntary Compliance Agreement (VCA) with the Consumers Association of Singapore (CASE), and will also donate $50,000 to the community chest.

The group will also distribute 50,000 free Floss buns over three weekends starting August 28.

"We sincerely apologise for the frustration and disappointment this has caused our customers," said George Quek, founder and chairman of BreadTalk Group.
