Singapore welcomed 5.79 million visitors in the first four months of the year, representing a 4.4% increase from a year ago.

According to CBRE, visitor arrivals for the year is on track to reach up to 16.7 million.

It added that China is currently the top visitor source with a 19.0% share, attributed to the efforts of the Singapore Tourism Board (STB).

“The statutory board launched numerous marketing campaigns in recent times to target Chinese Tier 2 cities, and collaborated with Chinese online travel agencies to promote Singapore as a tourist destination,” CBRE said.

These strategies have proven successful as the number of Chinese visitors rose 8.3% y-o-y to 1.10 million - making Singapore the top regional holiday spot for Chinese tourists," CBRE noted.

Meanwhile, to target more business travellers, Changi Airport, STB and Singapore Airlines (SIA) launched the enhanced Singapore MICE Advantage Programme (SMAP).

"SMAP will seek to provide a differentiated and more refined MICE experiences with new partners Uber and JetQuay onboard," the firm added.
