Chart of the Day: 3,600 workers retrenched in Q3

66% of retrenched workers were from the services sector.

This chart from the Ministry of Manpower (MoM) shows the number of retrenched workers in Singapore reached 3,600 in Q3, lower than 4,220 last year.

This is the third consecutive quarter where retrenchments remained lower than the corresponding quarter a year ago.

There were 600 term contract employees and 3,000 permanent employees retrenched for the quarter.

Services continued to form the bulk of retrenchments at 66%, followed by manufacturing at 19% and construction at 15%.
