Henkel unveils global supply chain base in Singapore
It will work closely with a hub in Amsterdam.
With the hopes of steering supply chain initiatives, German-based consumer goods giant Henkel launched a global supply chain base in the city-state.
Located at PSA Building in Alexandra Road, the hub will standardize and merge the firm's purchasing, production, and logistics processes across its three business units. It will work alongside a similar global supply chain hub in Amsterdam.
Henkel Senior Vice President Bertrand Conquéret explained in a statement that the city-state was chosen for its excellent logistics capabilities.
“Singapore was selected for its excellent logistics capabilities, availability of supply chain talent and geographical location in the heart of Asia, which is a key growth market for Henkel.Together the two global hubs are very well-positioned to manage the end to end strategic agenda of Global Supply Chain Hub," he said
The Singapore arm of Henkel was established in 1983. It served as a strategic and services hub for the adhesive technologies and beauty care businesses in Southeast Asia.
For Economic Development Board Consumer Businesses Director Chan Ih-Ming, the group's decision to establish a base in the city-state highlights Singapore's strategic position as key supply chain control tower for both Asia and the world.
“The EDB will accelerate our work with companies to equip the Singapore workforce with the right capabilities to seize the exciting professional opportunities in the logistics industry, such as those created to enable Henkel’s sustainable supply chain.”
