SIA Group's passenger load factor rose 2.6 ppt to 87.6% in December

This was led by Singapore Airlines' PLF as it climbed 2 ppt to a record-high of 87.5%.

SIA Group airlines' passenger load factor (PLF) rose by 2.6 ppt to 87.6% in December 2019, according to a news release. The group’s passenger carriage grew 7.9% YoY, which outpaced its capacity growth of 4.8%.

Singapore Airlines' PLF climbed 2 ppt YoY to an all-time record high of 87.5%. Passenger carriage grew 8.7% against capacity injection of 6.1%. PLF improved for all route regions except for South West Pacific, where it dipped 0.4 ppt.

SilkAir recorded a 5.1 ppt improvement in PLF to 84.3%, with systemwide passenger carriage dropping 7.6% as capacity fell 13.2%. Capacity contracted as eleven destinations were transferred to Scoot in 2019.

Scoot's PLF also grew 3.2 ppt to 88.7% as passenger carriage rose 10.1% against capacity expansion of 6.1%. Improved performance for Southeast Asia and tactical promotions in North Asia led to a 3.3 ppt higher PLF in East Asia.

However, cargo load factor (CLF) continued to slip at 4.2 ppt, as the 9.9% decline in cargo traffic outpaced the contraction in capacity of 3.6%. All route regions registered declines in CLF.
