Some local independent restaurants and cafes have banded together to send food to frontline healthcare workers over the virus outbreak.

The initiative was started by one-Michelin-starred Restaurant Labyrinth.

Labyrinth will be contributing $20 per dinner customer, $80 for every bottle of corkage charged and $40 for every full bottle of wine sold.

Jam At Siri House will also pitch in 50% of the sales from their Jam And Toast dessert as well as 30% of the sales from their newly launched Lounge Cocktails.

The proceeds will be used to purchase halal food from Pezzo Group.

Whilst the government’s 10-year plan to make Housing and Development Board (HDB) towns liveable and more environmentally sustainable is ambitious, it is doable, according to experts.

HDB’s preliminary studies showed that the use of cool paint could lower ambient temperature by up to two degrees Celsius when applied to roofs, pavements and building facades.

To be trialled first in a large-scale pilot on several neighbourhoods, the paint will be adopted nationwide if successful.

Experts said the move brings Singapore one step nearer to other established green cities like Amsterdam, Vancouver and Copenhagen, even as it faces various challenges requiring innovative solutions.

Digital recruiting platform Sama has closed a US$1.15m seed funding from Collaborative Fund, 3tvcp, Antler and other unnamed angel investors.

Sama’s platform matches migrant workers to jobs.

The company plans to use the capital for growth in 2020.

Sama recently became a fully-licensed agency, having obtained the Singapore Ministry of Manpower (MOM) license to work directly with companies to address hiring needs.
