Changi Airport T5 to house new interchange station
It will link Thomson-East Coast Line and Cross Island Line.
A new MRT station in Changi Airport Terminal 5 (T5) will be an interchange station linking Thomson-East Coast Line (TEL) and Cross Island Line (CRL), according to the Land Transport Authority (LTA).
This will connect the airport directly to the city centre and other major hubs through the TEL extension (TELe) and the CRL.
The TELe will extend the TEL from Sungei Bedok station to the new interchange station. As part of this extension, three East-West Line stations from Tanah Merah to Changi Airport station will be converted to TEL stations.
When the TELe is completed, the TEL will span approximately 57 km, stretching from Tanah Merah through iconic destinations like Gardens by the Bay, Maxwell, and Orchard, and continuing north to Woodlands North station, where commuters can conveniently transfer to the upcoming Johor Bahru - Singapore Rapid Transit System Link.
T5 will also be connected to other parts of Singapore via the CRL. A 5.8-km extension from CR2 station will connect directly to T5 offering passengers fast and convenient access to key nodes such as the Punggol Digital District and Jurong Lake District, as well as residential areas including Ang Mo Kio, Clementi, Hougang, Pasir Ris and Punggol.
The T5, which broke ground earlier on 14 May 2025, will be a mega terminal that strengthens Changi Airport’s position as a leading global air hub. It is scheduled for completion in the mid-2030 and targets to serve about 50 million passengers annually.
