
Employers and developers refurbish offices to boost attendance
Over 2 in 5 employers plan to increase investment in building refurbishment.
Workplaces are increasingly being designed with experience in mind, with developers and employers believing that it will attract talent, boost workplace attendance, and revitalize urban centers.
In Singapore, where 86% of organizations have a policy of at least 3 days of office attendance per week, the ‘street to seat’ experience will mean increased investment in integrating unique space design with elevated branding and tailored office perks, said JLL.
More than 2 in 5 or 45% of employers in Singapore indicated that they plan to increase investment in existing building refurbishment over the next five years. Across APAC, 54% of employers indicated the same, with the highest in India, at 70%.
Across Asia Pacific, 58% of employers expect to spend more on space design and fit out, and 66% report that collaboration space is the most important space for them.
Amongst space redesign elements being considered include adding more collaboration space (50%), upgrading the meeting room technology for more inclusive meetings (43%), increased informal seating (39%), adding more focus or phone rooms (32%), and increased lockers (29%).
