Singapore among the top career locations to move to for APAC workers: survey

Improved salaries and remuneration the main reason for moving.

Singapore is one of the top picks for workers in Asia Pacific and other regions to move to in their next career move or in the future, according to ACCA’s 2024 Global Talent Trends Survey.

In the Asia Pacific region, 7% of respondents said they would move to the city-state for their next career move, while 4% said they would move in the future.

Surveyed workers in other regions such as North America (4%), Mainland China (1%) and India (6%) said they would also move to Singapore for their next career move. Meanwhile, workers in Mainland China (1%) and India (5%) said they would make the move in the future.

Higher salaries and remuneration were the main reasons cited globally for moving to a different country in their career, with 19% in agreement. International work experience and improved character opportunities following suit at 17% and 16%, respectively.

In the Asia Pacific region, nearly half of workers are not satisfied with their level of pay for their roles. Nearly three-fifths are intending on asking for pay hikes in the next 12 months. Nearly half believe that the best way to improve their salaries is to leave their current jobs.

A NOTE FROM SINGAPORE BUSINESS REVIEW

The people you want to reach are already in this room.

Every quarter, SBR lands on the desks of the founders, CFOs, and directors running Asia's most consequential companies. Every day, they open our newsletter and read our website. It's a room that took twenty years to build — and it's the one most of our partners are trying to get into.

The good news is that the door is open. We work with companies on thought leadership articles, sponsored content, industry summits across Southeast Asia, regional awards programmes, podcasts, and media placements in print and digital. The shape of the right partnership depends on what you're trying to do, which is why we'd rather start with a conversation than send a rate card.

If you have something this room should know about, tell us. We'll tell you honestly whether we can help, and how.

No rate cards until we understand the brief. It's a better use of everyone's time.
