Singapore to deepen AI skills of 100,000 workers in new programme

The National AI Impact Programme will train workers in AI skills starting with legal and accounting sector.

Singapore’s National AI Impact Programme will support 100,000 workers to become “AI bilingual,” according to the Infocomm Media Development Authority (IMDA) and the Ministry of Digital Development and Information (MDDI).

The programme was announced at the 2026 Committee of Supply debates and is part of Singapore’s efforts to strengthen AI capabilities amongst both enterprises and the workforce.

It builds on the country’s existing National AI Strategy 2.0.

Under the initiative, workers will receive training to deepen their AI fluency and apply AI tools and techniques within their professional domains.

IMDA states that this encompasses learning to use AI in role‑specific workflows and processes.

The programme will draw on existing training infrastructure, including the TechSkills Accelerator (TeSA), which IMDA will expand to develop AI bilingual capabilities, starting with professionals in fields such as accountancy and legal services.

Partnerships with sector lead agencies and professional bodies such as the Institute of Singapore Chartered Accountants and the Singapore Academy of Law are part of the measure to tailor training requirements and competencies.

In addition to worker training, the National AI Impact Programme will support 10,000 enterprises to advance their adoption of AI technologies.

Enhancements such as the Digital Leaders Accelerator Bootcamp and curated AI solutions with grant support are included as part of the enterprise support framework.
