This Singapore startup rocked Asia by providing incredible back-up solutions for emails

Dropmysite bills itself as Asia's fastest growing startup for attracting 630,000 users within 50 days, faster than Twitter, Pinterest and Fab.com.

Dropmysite Pte Ltd is a company that backs up the Internet, with a focus on backing up Cloud data, such as websites, emails, chat, social media, and more. The company has developed and launched two websites: Dropmysite.com and Dropmyemail.com.

The latter is a Cloud-to-Cloud backup solution for emails, which has signed up over 650,000 users in less than 50 days since its launch at DEMO Asia in March ‘12 – making it the fastest growing startup in Asia, as founder John Fearon claims.

After the recent acquisition of OrbitFiles, a cloud data backup site, Dropmyemail is now at 911,000 users.
Dropmysite Pte Ltd has offices in Singapore, Dallas, Mumbai and Buenos Aires.

How did the company start?:

Fearon realized that there was an unmet demand for website and email cloud backup. In a previous online website business, the server crashed and important data was lost. This prompted him to find a service that can backup websites.
However, there was none so he decided to build Dropmysite. A few months in, Fearon figured that emails was an even bigger market and pivoted to create Dropmyemail.

What makes it a promising start-up?


According to Fearon, the problems that Dropmyemail/Dropmysite solve is widespread and global.
Data hosted in the cloud is vulnerable to being lost through hacking and hosting failure. The threat to Cloud-based data is real:


• 1 website gets hacked every 5 seconds
• 540 million email accounts get hacked every year (62% are unaware of being hacked)
• In April ’12, Gmail service was out for days to 33.2 million users
• User error; hitting the delete button when you didn’t mean to.

According to Fearon, there is a worldwide demand for Dropmysite/Dropmyemail’s current and future service, with 4 billion email accounts / countless websites worldwide and growing. “This business has an extensive reach with existing users in over 100 countries,” he said.


Dropmysite Pte Ltd claims that it is the first mover, with recognition, in this large market. “This business has the potential to scale fast. The team has deep expertise in online performance marketing, incl. Display, SEO, SEM, Social. Also, the development technical team is strong, with an aggregated coding experience >40 years,” said Fearon.

According to Fearon, there are significant partnership deals with telecommunication / software companies are in the pipeline which will significantly increase Dropmysite / Dropmyemail’s profile and revenue.
