Almost half of employers still reluctant to use AI in recruitment

Employers who have utilised AI do so for shortlisting, amongst others.

Four in 10 (45.3%) employers in Singapore have no plans to use artificial intelligence (AI) in their recruitment processes yet, Hays reported.

According to the report, the use of Generative AI in recruitment is still in the early stages, with only 20.7% using the technology through their hiring process. Meanwhile, 23.0% are looking to explore it in the coming year.

Of those who use AI in recruitment, most of them apply the technology for resume screening and shortlisting (36.8%), followed by predictive analysis for candidate fit (32.6%) and interview scheduling and coordination (26.3%).

Those averse to the use of AI in hiring processes believe that AI-powered resume screening can be biased and requires addressing before being utilised (59.7%).

The Hays study also found that 33.0% of employers who used AI in recruitment are not actively accessing biases in AI recruitment tools, whilst only 29.7% of human resources personnel polled received policies around AI tools use from their managers or organisations.
