Symantec appoints Brenton Smith as VP of Symantec.cloud

He will be managing Symantec's cloud business in Asia Pacific and Japan.

In a release, Richard Collins, vice president, global sales, Symantec.cloud says Brenton’s extensive experience across the region makes him a great fit for the role.

“With more than 20 years’ experience spanning Asia Pacific across a number of multinational IT application and software vendors, Brenton has the knowledge and expertise to lead the continued growth of Symantec’s cloud business in the Asia Pacific and Japan region,” said Richard.

“Cloud is rapidly transforming how customers choose to address their security, IT and information management challenges. Brenton will be responsible for working with our sales team and channel partners to offer customers the simplest, market leading, security cloud platform to enable customers to trust us with their information security and management so that they can focus on running their business.”

“I’m pleased to be joining Symantec at a time when cloud is such a fast-growing part of the Symantec portfolio and is projected to contribute 15 percent of Symantec’s annual revenue within the next five years,” said Brenton Smith, vice president, Symantec.cloud, Asia Pacific and Japan. “One of the most appealing aspects of Symantec is the depth and breadth of its solution portfolio and its ability to offer customers choice for cloud, on-premise or appliance solutions. The key advantages of our cloud solutions are that they offer a scalable, easy to manage and predictable cost structure to both enterprise and SMB organisations alike.”

The shift to the cloud also creates new opportunities for channel partners to generate recurring revenue streams and offer their customers value with cloud security services that combine cutting-edge technology with industry-leading Service Level Agreements (SLAs) and 24x7 service and support.

Brenton joins Symantec.cloud from CA Technologies where most recently he was managing director for Australia and New Zealand. Brenton’s Asia Pacific experience spans Thailand, India, Singapore, Malaysia, Philippines, Indonesia, Australia and New Zealand. He has also held a number of management and sales development roles at BusinessObjects, Siebel Systems, Brightstar Information Technology Group and SAP.
