AutoConcierge platform Motorist.sg secured an undisclosed sum in seed funding from career and education portal JobsCentral’s co-founders Der Shing Lim and Shao-Ning Huang, as well as from live chat software Zopim’s co-founder Royson Tan.

Launched in May 2015, Motorist.sg provides vehicle valuations services as well as car insurance, certificate of entitlement (COE) renewals and vehicle purchases. The firm has transacted more than 9,200 vehicles worth over $176m to date, the statement highlighted.

The firm is looking to use the additional injection of funds to rev up its presence in Southeast Asia with a new office in Thailand slated to open in 2019. Motorist.sg already has offices in Singapore, Malaysia and Vietnam.

“The next six months will be very exciting for the Motorist team,” the firm’s CEO Damian Sia said in a statement. “We will focus on marketing and supercharging our products and services to show future investors the scalability of our business model.”

Motorist.sg also plans to roll out a nationwide campaign in February to promote the launch of its new mobile app which will be available for car owners via the App Store and Google Play.

A NOTE FROM SINGAPORE BUSINESS REVIEW

The people you want to reach are already in this room.

Every quarter, SBR lands on the desks of the founders, CFOs, and directors running Asia's most consequential companies. Every day, they open our newsletter and read our website. It's a room that took twenty years to build — and it's the one most of our partners are trying to get into.

The good news is that the door is open. We work with companies on thought leadership articles, sponsored content, industry summits across Southeast Asia, regional awards programmes, podcasts, and media placements in print and digital. The shape of the right partnership depends on what you're trying to do, which is why we'd rather start with a conversation than send a rate card.

If you have something this room should know about, tell us. We'll tell you honestly whether we can help, and how.

No rate cards until we understand the brief. It's a better use of everyone's time.
