CCCS assumes safety and metrology duties from 1 July

The agency will now serve as a single point of contact for issues relating to fair trading practices, product safety standards, and accurate trade measurements.

The Competition and Consumer Commission of Singapore (CCCS) will expand its regulatory scope starting 1 July, assuming responsibility for consumer product safety and legal metrology previously managed by Enterprise Singapore.

With the enforcement of the Competition (Amendment) Act 2025, both the Consumer Product Safety Office (CPSO) and the Weights and Measures Office (WMO) will come under CCCS oversight. The agency will now serve as a single point of contact for issues relating to fair trading practices, product safety standards, and accurate trade measurements.

The move is expected to enhance regulatory consistency, market integrity, and business confidence, reinforcing Singapore’s status as a reliable business hub.

To ensure service continuity, CCCS and Enterprise Singapore are working together to facilitate a smooth transfer with minimal disruption. Existing certificates, registrations, and regulatory requirements issued by CPSO and WMO will remain valid and enforceable under CCCS authority.
