Loh Boon Chye takes the helm as new SGX CEO
Starting on July 14.
The Board of Directors of Singapore Exchange today revealed that the group’s new CEO will be finance veteran Loh Boon Chye.
Loh will take the helm from current CEO Magnus Bocker, who will leave his post on June 30 after over five years of service.
Loh will commence his appointment on 14th July 2015. Current SGX President, Mr. Muthukrishnan Ramaswami will be in charge from 1st to 13th July 2015.
“Boon Chye is no stranger to SGX and his knowledge and extensive experience in capital markets equip him well to take SGX forward," said Chew Choon Seng, Chairman of SGX.
The 51-year-old Loh has a career spanning 26 years, beginning as an Investment Officer with the Monetary Authority of Singapore in 1989.
He joined the Singapore branch of Morgan Guaranty Trust Co. of New York in 1992. From 1995 to 2012, he was with Deutsche Bank AG, Singapore, where he held the posts of Chief Executive of the Global Markets Division in Singapore, and Head of Global Markets – Asia, and was Head of Corporate and Investment Banking for Asia-Pacific.
From December 2012 to early this year, he was with Bank of America – Merrill Lynch as Deputy President and Head of Global Markets for Asia-Pacific.
Loh graduated from the National University of Singapore with a Bachelor of Engineering degree. He was a director on the Board of SGX from October 2003 to September 2012.
