Marina Bay Cruise Centre to undergo $40m upgrade
This includes a larger ground transport area.
Marina Bay Cruise Centre Singapore (MBCCS) will undergo a major $40m upgrade, marking the most extensive overhaul since its opening in 2012.
The nine-month project will improve passenger experience with a new check-in area, expanded amenities, and a larger Ground Transport Area (GTA) featuring more bus parking and ride-hailing lots.
The upgrade, set to begin in Q1 2025, is being led by current terminal operator SATS-Creuers Cruise Services Pte Ltd (SATS-Creuers).
To support the work, the Singapore Tourism Board (STB) has extended SATS-Creuers' operator agreement for eight years, with a two-year extension option. The agreement, running potentially through 2037, was formalised in December 2024.
Once completed, MBCCS’ capacity will grow from 6,800 to 11,700 passengers, accommodating the increasing size of cruise ships. New facilities will include larger check-in areas and seating for embarkation and disembarkation, as well as additional lounge spaces.
The new GTA, built on vacant land in front of the terminal, will improve access and traffic flow, adding more coach bays and ride-hailing spaces. Traffic on Marina Coastal Drive will also be enhanced. The upgrades will be phased to minimise disruption, with MBCCS remaining operational on ship call days.
Since opening in 2012, SATS-Creuers has handled over 8 million passengers and more than 2,000 ship calls at MBCCS, strengthening Singapore’s role as a key cruise hub in the region.
