MOT issues clarification on false transport voucher post

The agency said that applications for these vouchers are open from 12 November to 31 October 2019.

The Ministry of Transport (MOT) has set the record straight on when the public can apply for its public transport vouchers following misleading information circulating via Whatsapp, according to its Facebook post.

The false messages informed the public that applications for ‘EZlink top-up of $30 at Community Centres (CC)’ would only be open on 12 November. However, MOT said that applications for these vouchers are open from 12 November to 31 October 2019.

MOT announced in October that the government will be disbursing $9m from the Public Transport Fund in the form of 300,000 vouchers worth $30 each. The vouchers can be used to buy or top up fare cards, as well as purchase monthly concession passes, it said in its announcement on 31 October.

“You have almost a year to apply for it, no need to rush to the CC on 12 November,” MOT said in its Facebook post.

Lower income households can apply for the $30 public transport vouchers at community centres and successful applicants will be informed via mail on how to redeem them, MOT added.
