LTA opens sandbox licence applications for bike-sharing services
Applications can be submitted until 24 February.
The Land Transport Authority (LTA) has now begun accepting sandbox licence applications for bicycle-sharing services today, an announcement revealed.
Existing bicycle-sharing licensees may also apply to increase their fleet sizes in this cycle. Applications can be submitted until 24 February, using application forms found on its website.
LTA will take into consideration the applicant’s plans and ability to manage indiscriminate parking, ability to maintain healthy fleet utilisation rates and its overall track record including whether there were previous instances of regulatory contraventions.
Successful sandbox licence applicants will be allowed to operate in public spaces for a year, where bike-sharing firms are allowed to have a maximum fleet size-thresholds of up to 1,000 bicycles.
The next licence application cycle for bicycle-sharing services will be in H2 2020.
