Changi Airport handled 5.9 million passengers in August

Passenger movements inched up 3.8% YoY in the same month.

A total of 5.9 million passengers went through Changi Airport in August, a 3.8% YoY climb compared to the same period last year, according to a press release.

In contrast, aircraft movements fell 1.6% YoY to 32,400 landings and takeoffs, whilst airfreight throughput declined 8% YoY to 169,000 tonnes, compared to the same period last year.

Amongst regions, Northeast Asia traffic recorded a 5% YoY increase in passenger movements, with China and Japan registering an 8% YoY and 14% YoY increase, respectively. South Korea soared 19% YoY, benefiting from additional capacity on the Busan route.

Bali (Denpasar), Shanghai and Tokyo also registered double-digit growth, the release added.

On the other hand, South Asia traffic dipped 2% YoY.
