SIA procures 7 Airbus A350F freighters from Airbus

The A305Fs will replace SIA's Boeing 747-400F freighters.

Singapore Airlines (SIA) has purchased seven Airbus A350F freighters, with options for five more aircraft, from aerospace company, Airbus.

Delivery for the A350Fs will begin in the fourth quarter of 2022, allowing the SIA to be the first carrier to operate the new generation widebody freighter aircraft.

The Rolls-Royce Trent XWB-97 engine-powered aircraft burns up to 40% less fuel on similar missions to Boeing 747-400F freighters, which it is set to replace.

This allows SIA to cut their carbon emissions by around 400,000 tonnes annually, supporting its goal of achieving net-zero carbon emissions by 2050.

The purchase deal was signed on 16 February at the Singapore Airshow 2022.

Recently, the airlines also purchased 22 GE9X engines for its new Boeing 777-9 fleet from GE Aviation.

A NOTE FROM SINGAPORE BUSINESS REVIEW

The people you want to reach are already in this room.

Every quarter, SBR lands on the desks of the founders, CFOs, and directors running Asia's most consequential companies. Every day, they open our newsletter and read our website. It's a room that took twenty years to build — and it's the one most of our partners are trying to get into.

The good news is that the door is open. We work with companies on thought leadership articles, sponsored content, industry summits across Southeast Asia, regional awards programmes, podcasts, and media placements in print and digital. The shape of the right partnership depends on what you're trying to do, which is why we'd rather start with a conversation than send a rate card.

If you have something this room should know about, tell us. We'll tell you honestly whether we can help, and how.

No rate cards until we understand the brief. It's a better use of everyone's time.
