Construction workweek contracts to decade low
Paid hours have fallen by 4.7 since 2015, reaching 47.4 hours in 2025.
Construction employees in Singapore averaged 47.4 paid hours of work per week in 2025, the lowest level recorded in the past decade, based on data from the Ministry of Manpower's (MOM) Labour Market Survey.
The average workweek has fallen steadily from 52.1 hours in 2015, representing a decline of 4.7 hours over the 10-year period.
Paid hours eased to 50.0 hours by 2019 before dropping further to 48.1 hours in 2020.
The average edged up to 49.8 hours in 2021 and 49.9 hours in 2022, but resumed its downward trend thereafter, falling to 48.6 hours in 2023, 47.8 hours in 2024, and 47.4 hours in 2025.
Across the overall workforce, average weekly paid hours also declined over the decade, falling to 43.1 hours in 2025 from 45.6 hours in 2015.
