WorldFirst bags accolade at SBR International Business Awards 2025

The company simplified global sourcing for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) through the launch of WorldTrade.

WorldFirst, a global leader in digital payment and financial services solutions, won the Trade Technology category at the SBR International Business Awards 2025, which recognised the company’s WorldTrade.

WorldTrade, launched in April 2024, revolutionises global sourcing for SME through a digital solution that combines B2B payment and order management. It is designed to make international trade simpler, more cost-effective and transparent, and provides a seamless experience for both buyers and sellers worldwide.

WorldTrade was developed to serve as a solution to common challenges in traditional international trade. These challenges include complex payment processes, high cross-border payment costs, and a lack of trust between buyers and sellers.

With this, SMEs can send a digital order link to buyers around the globe with flexible payment options. Buyers benefit from real-time payments, whether via credit or debit cards at affordable costs, or with a WorldFirst balance for free.

Funds are securely held in escrow until orders are shipped. This brings peace of mind for both parties, eventually fostering trust between them. This solution creates a win-win scenario for both SMEs and their global customers as it ensures maximum transparency.

Within eight months (1 April 2024 to 31 December 2024), WorldTrade has seen impressive growth. It has recorded a 49% growth in monthly active users; 70% growth in monthly GMV (Gross Merchandise Value), and over 10,000 global buyers and sellers who have already activated accounts on the platform, with 1,640 buyers in Singapore alone.

As it is dedicated to improving its features, WorldFirst has added new features to WorldTrade to empower global SMEs. Amongst these additions is the new payment options based on buyer-side, such as EU local bank transfers with lower fees. It also expanded regional support for sellers beyond China, helping businesses in Southeast Asia and other regions tap into global opportunities.

These updates further enhance the user experience and provide a flexible and efficient platform for SMEs to grow their global presence.

A NOTE FROM SINGAPORE BUSINESS REVIEW

The people you want to reach are already in this room.

Every quarter, SBR lands on the desks of the founders, CFOs, and directors running Asia's most consequential companies. Every day, they open our newsletter and read our website. It's a room that took twenty years to build — and it's the one most of our partners are trying to get into.

The good news is that the door is open. We work with companies on thought leadership articles, sponsored content, industry summits across Southeast Asia, regional awards programmes, podcasts, and media placements in print and digital. The shape of the right partnership depends on what you're trying to do, which is why we'd rather start with a conversation than send a rate card.

If you have something this room should know about, tell us. We'll tell you honestly whether we can help, and how.

No rate cards until we understand the brief. It's a better use of everyone's time.
