SJ Varied Sdn Bhd's earns Malaysia Technology Excellence Award for Information Management

SJ helps clients to maintain clean and healthy surroundings and project sites.

SJ Varied Sdn Bhd has secured the Information Management – Oil & Gas win at the recently held Malaysia Technology Excellence Awards 2020, presented by Singapore Business Review, thanks to its safety monitoring and management solutions.

Now in its second year, the awards event lauds enterprises which spearhead and take the lead in engineering trailblazing projects, virtual services, reconstructed strategies, and technological innovations.

Since its establishment in 2003, SJ has designed and implemented safety monitoring and management initiatives in numerous locations in Malaysia. The award-winning company is known for its commitment to the highest standards of safety management, implemented efficiently to achieve optimal results.

Waste management has become an important sector in industrialised and newly industrialised economies, particularly those with large construction and oil-and-gas development projects that need and meet government mandated ecological standards.

Through their specialised products and services, SJ helps clients to maintain clean and healthy surroundings and project sites, which are conducive to sustainability in an evolving environment. In Malaysia, SJ Varied Sdn Bhd fulfils this essential purpose.

SJ focuses its operations on trading of secondary and reusable surplus material.

It also specialises in decommissioning, demolition, and salvage, overseas material handling, construction waste management, as well as dumpsite and landfill operator. It is the waste management contractor for the RAPID (Refinery and Petrochemical Integrated Development) site in Pengerang, Johor, one of the largest of the kind in the world constructed at a single time with a 300,000 barrels-per-day (BPD) refinery and a petrochemical complex with a combined 3.609 million metric tons-per-year production capacity.

Over the years, SJ Varied Sdn Bhd has become a leading investment recovery, surplus material, and demolition and decommissioning specialist in Malaysia. The founders’ passion and commitment has turned it into one of the fastest-growing companies in its industry with a focus on oil and gas.

Supported by a strong management and a focused business plan, since 2003, the company has managed nearly 1 million tonnes of material, which accounts for approximately one-third of the annual industry average in the southern Malaysian Peninsula.

SJ Varied Sdn Bhd has a clear competitive advantage consisting of availability of infrastructure, machinery, and equipment, ability to manage large-scale projects successfully, dedicated technical and support team, collaborative orientation, as well as cost-effective approach amongst others.

The Malaysia Technology Excellence Awards, presented by Singapore Business Review, was held via video conferencing throughout the month of September.

This year’s nominations were judged by a panel consisting of Justin Ong, Partner and FSI Financial and Regulatory Risk Leader at Deloitte Asia Pacific; Alvin SH Gan, Executive Director, Partner, Head of IT enabled Transformation (ITeT) at KPMG Malaysia; Hari Iyer, Executive Director, Advisory at BDO Kuala Lumpur; Michael Lim Jr, Managing Director at Crowe Growth Consulting Sdn Bhd; Jade Leong, Partner, Advisory at Ernst & Young Advisory Services Sdn Bhd.

A NOTE FROM SINGAPORE BUSINESS REVIEW

The people you want to reach are already in this room.

Every quarter, SBR lands on the desks of the founders, CFOs, and directors running Asia's most consequential companies. Every day, they open our newsletter and read our website. It's a room that took twenty years to build — and it's the one most of our partners are trying to get into.

The good news is that the door is open. We work with companies on thought leadership articles, sponsored content, industry summits across Southeast Asia, regional awards programmes, podcasts, and media placements in print and digital. The shape of the right partnership depends on what you're trying to do, which is why we'd rather start with a conversation than send a rate card.

If you have something this room should know about, tell us. We'll tell you honestly whether we can help, and how.

No rate cards until we understand the brief. It's a better use of everyone's time.
