Telecoms and computers lead 1.7% growth in foreign wholesale sales for Q2

The sector recorded a 14.1% QoQ uptick.

Foreign wholesale sales grew by 1.7% QoQ in the second quarter of 2024 (Q2 2024).

Excluding Petroleum, which saw a 3.0% QoQ dip, foreign wholesale sales would have increased by 6.7% QoQ, said the Department of Statistics Singapore (SingStat).

Other industries which saw contraction during the quarter were Food, Beverages & Tobacco (-0.9% QoQ).

The rest of the industries registered increases in foreign sales, led by Telecommunications & Computers with a 14.1% QoQ uptick, followed by General Wholesale Trade (12.9% QoQ), Household Equipment & Furniture (10.8% QoQ), and Chemicals & Chemical Products (10.3%) 

Other industries which saw expansions were Ship Chandlers & Bunkering (1.1% QoQ), Electronic Components (8.6% QoQ), Metals, Timber & Construction Materials (1.5% QoQ), Transport Equipment (3.6% QoQ), and Other Wholesale Trade (3.6% QoQ).
