Prime Minister's Office appoints Benny Lim as Permanent Secretary

Mr. Lim's appointment is effective from September 1.

According to a release, Mr Benny Lim, Permanent Secretary (Home Affairs), will be appointed concurrently as Permanent Secretary (Prime Minister’s Office) with effect from 1 September 2011. Mr  Chiang Chie Foo will relinquish the Permanent Secretary (Prime Minister’s Office) appointment on the same date and will continue as Permanent Secretary (Defence).

Mr Benny Lim, 54, joined the Singapore Police Force in 1975. In the course of his career with the Singapore Police Force, Mr Lim rose to the rank of Deputy Commissioner of Police and held various appointments including Director, Internal Security Department. He was appointed Second Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Home Affairs in 2004 and Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Home Affairs a year later. 

Mr Lim holds a Bachelor of Arts (Honours) degree in English from the National University of Singapore and a Master of Science degree from the London School of Economics and Political Science, UK.
