Go against the flow: Why you should bet on battered offshore and marine stocks this year

A rebound is in the works, analysts claim.

Daring investors will do well to head to the battered offshore and marine sector in 2015. According to OSK DMG, it will pay to invest where most fear to tread, namely the offshore & marine and property sectors.

“The free-fall in oil prices will continue to grapple the market, although we believe that prices will recover some time before the middle of the year. This ought to set the stage for a rebound in the offshore & marine sector,” the report stated.

“As for property, the physical market is likely to remain subdued, leading to a fall in residential prices by up to 10%, in our view. We expect some cooling measures to be lifted in 2H15, which should see interest returning to this segment,” added OSK DMG.

The report stated that investors should head for mid caps, as the slump in many prominent mid caps will make this segment a sweet spot to be in.

The people you want to reach are already in this room.

Every quarter, SBR lands on the desks of the founders, CFOs, and directors running Asia's most consequential companies. Every day, they open our newsletter and read our website. It's a room that took twenty years to build — and it's the one most of our partners are trying to get into.

The good news is that the door is open. We work with companies on thought leadership articles, sponsored content, industry summits across Southeast Asia, regional awards programmes, podcasts, and media placements in print and digital. The shape of the right partnership depends on what you're trying to do, which is why we'd rather start with a conversation than send a rate card.

If you have something this room should know about, tell us. We'll tell you honestly whether we can help, and how.

No rate cards until we understand the brief. It's a better use of everyone's time.
