Singapore ranks top global destination for entrepreneurs

56% of entrepreneurs are already living across multiple locations.

Singapore is the top destination global entrepreneurs are considering relocating to in the next 12 months, edging out the UK, with Japan and Switzerland tied for third place, according to a report from HBSC.

The city-state’s appeal stems from its strong mix of business infrastructure, quality of life, and investment opportunities, the report said.

Singapore, the UK, and Switzerland also emerged as the top three destinations for relocating personal wealth—highlighting a strong link between where entrepreneurs choose to live and where they allocate assets.

Whilst 59% of entrepreneurs globally are considering moving wealth to another country, only about 20% of those based in Singapore are doing so, making them the least likely to shift either residence or assets.

Entrepreneurial optimism remains high. Half of respondents expect their personal wealth to improve significantly in the next few years, with another 39% expecting moderate gains.

On business outlook, 54% feel “very positive” and 40% “fairly positive.” The biggest driver of confidence: available opportunities. Singapore ranked third globally on this metric (60%), behind the UK and India.

Technology is central to expansion strategies. Globally, 62% of entrepreneurs cite tech and AI as key reasons for optimism. Investment in AI (51%) ranks as the top growth move, followed by hiring (43%).

Among Singapore-based entrepreneurs, 53% plan to invest in AI and 46% plan to expand their teams.

Personal mobility is also on the rise, with 56% of entrepreneurs already living across multiple locations and 57% considering new residencies in the coming year.

A NOTE FROM SINGAPORE BUSINESS REVIEW

The people you want to reach are already in this room.

Every quarter, SBR lands on the desks of the founders, CFOs, and directors running Asia's most consequential companies. Every day, they open our newsletter and read our website. It's a room that took twenty years to build — and it's the one most of our partners are trying to get into.

The good news is that the door is open. We work with companies on thought leadership articles, sponsored content, industry summits across Southeast Asia, regional awards programmes, podcasts, and media placements in print and digital. The shape of the right partnership depends on what you're trying to do, which is why we'd rather start with a conversation than send a rate card.

If you have something this room should know about, tell us. We'll tell you honestly whether we can help, and how.

No rate cards until we understand the brief. It's a better use of everyone's time.
